Brand Campaign
Think before you print is a campaign aiming to create awareness about the impact of printing.
** Project developed through Xerox Creative Studio. | #graphic design #branding| September 2021
The Brief
Even though digital interactions are more popular than ever, printing is still relevant in the workplace. Our client wanted to raise awareness among their associates about the environmental impacts of printing and eventually reduce its frequency in the workspace. The objective of this campaign was to spread the word digitally through different communication channels such as email, Symphony, digital screens, and SharePoint.
The Process
Initially, I worked on two different concepts. The first one uses images and illustrations to set the scene of awareness along with key facts and alternatives. The second concept features the duality of a green textured background with clean white space; overlayed with a page presenting the message for each communication. I pictured it with plenty of white space; thus, I used a grid of double-tone icons and brief texts to keep the information simple and to the point. After sharing these alternatives with the client, they decided on concept 2; then, I started creating the assets for each channel.
The Outcome
Defining the structuring of the message presented a bit of a challenge, on one hand, this would be one of many communications an associate receives daily; as a result, it needed to be concise and eye-catching. On the other hand, the subject is very dense; it needs to be broken down and presented into smaller content units. My approach for the structure was to open every communication with a relevant piece of information to draw attention to the issue, followed by supporting facts, suggestions of what to do, and resources to learn more.
Once the structure was in place, it was just a matter of applying it to the different assets and circulating them according to the campaign calendar.
Considering the recent changes in the workplace (e. g. assimilation of remote and hybrid working models), the campaign was well-received among the company's associates. 'Think before you print' not only helped to raise awareness but also provided information about the many resources the company has available for sharing information digitally.
